Medical Wall Outlets

About Medical Gas Wall Outlets

Medical gas wall outlets are available for a variety of gas types and have different connection options available. Wall outlets are commonly found throughout hospitals, surgery centers, and dental facilities. They allow the medical gas line being used in a room to connect directly into the main med gas piping system. For example, when oxygen is needed in a particular room, the oxygen hose line can be easily connected to the outlet for use with necessary equipment.

These outlets also allow for the quick connection of medical flowmeters. The flowmeter is attached right to the wall outlet making it easily accessible to medical professionals.

For WAGD wall outlets, there will typically be a suction regulator attached to the outlet and the suction hose line will then connect to the vacuum regulator.

Selecting the Right Outlet

When selecting a medical wall outlet, you must first know your gas type. From there, you can review the connection type you will need. The most common connection type is DISS, but there are also Chemetron, Puritan Bennett, Ohmeda and Passive Evacuation connection types. There is also the option to have a satin/flat finish on the outlet cover instead of the standard chrome/shiny finish.

Knowing your code standard is also important as this will determine the color of the outlet faceplate. The code standard used in the United States is NFPA 99, but we also have CSA/ISO standard wall outlets available upon request for international applications.

Note: Most manufacturers do not provide images of all their outlets with each color code standard, so you may only see green (oxygen) color outlets in the product images. That is okay, just make sure your filtering options are set to the appropriate gas type and your order will process with the correct outlet color. Below is a table that shows the corresponding color for each gas type as per NFPA 99 code:

Once you have this information ready, you can filter through our selection of medical wall outlets to find the right product for your facility.

Key Features

Most wall outlets will allow up to a one (1) inch wall thickness adjustment and come with a rough-in assembly which allows for a variety of Quick Disconnects or DISS Front Adapters. There is a 360 degree swivel inlet pipe that makes installation quick and convenient. The outlet is also manufactured with a Type K copper inlet pipe stub that is silver brazed to the body of the wall outlet.
